Classifying Cryptoassets: Taxonomies and Their Implications for Regulation

1st Idea Ltd

A practitioner in instigating actions towards greater transparency and a proponent of cloud-based technologies, Wendy brings to bear over 20 years working in the Financial industry. During that time, she has overseen large-scale transformation projects in the areas of Trading, Risk, Finance, Treasury and Master Data.

Wendy’s focus on taxonomies started in 2015 when she was invited to take the role of Chef Designer, for a pan-bank product taxonomy solution. The notable outcome was the creation of a new taxonomy methodology which was used to deliver a “first of its kind” management platform for financial products. The platform has over 1,000 users globally, supporting client-facing initiatives and the institution’s compliance towards numerous regulations.

Since then, Wendy has been focusing on the Regulatory angle by leveraging Taxonomies to bridge the gap between regulation, product and compliance. She has worked with Fixed Income, Equities, FX and Commodities product heads decoding complex products under the investor protection banner of MiFID and more recently explicitly focusing on Crypto Assets.

A guest speaker at Oxford Unvivstity on behalf of the British Computer Society. When not thinking of new ways of helping organisations leverage their product portfolio to increase revenue and meet regulatory demands, Wendy can be found touring on her Harley around Europe.
